I adhere to current UK data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003​

What information I collect, use, and why

For therapy services:
I collect or use the following information to provide client care and therapy services:​

  • Payment details (including bank information for transfers).

  • Records of meetings and decisions.

I collect or use the following information to meet my professional and legal obligations:​

  • Name, address, and contact details.

  • Emergency contact details.

  • Details of your registered GP.

My lawful bases for the collection and use of your date

  • Consent: I have permission from you for therapy. I also rely on your consent via the cookie banner for any non-essential cookies used for analytics.

  • Contract: I need this information to carry out our therapy agreement.

  • Vital interests: I may use your information if your life or health is at urgent or serious risk.

  • Legitimate interests: I use your website usage data to monitor and improve the performance of my website. I also use it for the effective administration of my private practice. ​

Where I get personal information from

  • Directly from you: Most information is provided by you during enquiries or sessions.

  • Automatically: When you visit my website, certain information is collected automatically through cookies (if you have accepted them via the banner)

How long I keep personal information

I only keep your personal information for as long as is necessary to provide you with my services and to comply with legal and professional obligations.

  • Clinical Therapy Records: I retain these for seven years after the conclusion of our work together (as required by my professional insurance).

  • Initial Enquiries: If you contact me but do not proceed with therapy, your details will be deleted within one month.

  • Financial Records: Payment information is kept for six years for tax and accounting

  • purposes.

  • Communications: Text messages and non-essential emails are deleted after one week.

  • Any clinical information in emails is transferred to your permanent record.

  • Website Analytics: This data is typically held for 14–26 months (depending on provider settings) or until you clear your browser cookies.

Duty of confidentiality

I am subject to a common law duty of confidentiality. I will not share your information unless:

  1. You have provided me with your consent (implied for your direct care, or explicit for other uses).

  2. I have a legal requirement (including court orders) to share it.

  3. There is a clear Public Interest to share the data that overrides the duty of confidentiality (e.g., to prevent serious harm to yourself or others, or to support the detection of a serious crime).

How to complain

I am committed to handling any concerns regarding your personal data with care and transparency. I will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and investigate the matter promptly. Should you remain dissatisfied with my response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
